Greenscapes North Shore Coalition

The Greenscapes North Shore Coalition consists of four environmental organizations that work to protect our waters across the North Shore and coastal Massachusetts: Salem Sound Coastwatch, the Ipswich River Watershed Association, the Eight Towns and the Bay Committee, and the Massachusetts Bays Estuary Association.

Salem Sound Coastwatch (SSCW) is a coastal watershed association that works with the citizens and businesses of the six communities of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem, and Marblehead. SSCW is dedicated to taking cooperative action to protect and enhance the environmental quality of the Salem Sound Watershed and works to achieve this mission through municipal partnering, scientific investigation, education, and stewardship.

The Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA) has served as the voice of the Ipswich River since 1977. Through education, outreach, monitoring, and advocacy, IRWA seeks to connect the people, communities, and ecosystems integral to a healthy watershed. IRWA's watershed region includes the towns of Ipswich, Hamilton, Wenham, Topsfield, Middleton, Boxford, Reading, North Reading, and Wilmington.

The Eight Towns and the Bay Committee (8T&B) works with the municipalities of Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport, Newbury, Rowley, Ipswich, Essex, Gloucester, and Rockport. 8T&B works with communities to foster stewardship of coastal resources on the upper North Shore by heightening public awareness of solutions to pollution problems, providing technical assistance, and supporting local research and education projects.

The Massachusetts Bays Estuary Association is the nonprofit partner of the Mass. Bays Program and works through public education and coastal habitat initiatives to protect and restore the coastal health and heritage of the Bays. Founded in 2004, MBEA serves the fifty communities of the Massachusetts and Cape Cod Bays watershed. The MBEA centrally coordinates the Greenscapes program on behalf of South Shore, North Shore, and other regional partners.

Salem Sound Coastwatch and Eight Towns and the Bay Committee are regional partners of the Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program.
